Product information "Tankex Paint Stripping"

Organic cold stripping product specifically developed to remove coatings/sealers inside tanks.

Tankex removes old Sealers

Many tanks have been sealed with different epoxy resins, polyester or polyurethane paints, however, many of these sealers fail and begin to flake or peel off because they cannot hold up to ethanol fuel blends. Ethanol is able to penetrate and destroy these coatings, resulting in failed sealers and leaking tank.  
The end result is clogged filters, carburettors, pipes and rust in the tank AGAIN!

The solution - Wagner Tankex

Wagner Tankex has been specifically developed to remove old tank coatings damaged by ethanol. Tankex penetrates single- and two-component sealers and removes them from steel, aluminium and other light metals. It is also able to remove Wagner Tank Sealing Resin. Tankex does not work on old original BMW paintwork, nor can it be applied in fiber-reinforced plastic tanks.

A thing well done needs time

Sealer removal will not happen overnight. Tank coatings adhere extremely well, but over time many are susceptible to ethanol and crack, flake and fail over time.
Paint stripping also takes time, possibly up to 4 weeks or longer, depending on the coating thickness. The tank has to be moved 1 – 2 times a day so Tankex can wet the old coating and start to soften and remove the failed coating.

Use extreme caution when applying

Tankex is an alkaline chemical product. When working with this product the utmost care is required. Please observe all safety instructions of the safety data sheet as well as our detailed instructions. 

Scope of delivery

For the very reason that extreme caution is required when working with Tankex, the delivery of Tankex includes:

  • 1 litre of Tankex
  • 1 detailed instructions with safety information
  • 1 safety data sheet
  • 1 safety goggles
  • 1 pair of protective gloves
  • 2 fleece cloth (40 x 40 cm)
  • 1 fabric tape (30 mm x 25 m)

Never work without safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing.

Before you start your work, it is very important to read carefully the instructions on paint stripping.
