Fully synthetic special lubricant for lubricating the valve stems of side-controlled engines (flathead).

Mode of action

In simple or old four-stroke engines, the valves are arranged sideways (SV engines/flathead). In this valve arrangement, the valves are not located in the cylinder head and are not connected to the engine's lubrication circuit. This type of valve control therefore requires a different form of lubrication.

Also suitable for engines with a snifting valve and counter- or exchange-controlled engines with inlet-over-exhaust/IOE valve actuation. In these engines, too, one or more valves often run dry, i.e. without being integrated into the vehicle's lubrication circuit.

The fully synthetic base components ensure complete combustion without deposits and coking in the combustion chamber.

The top oil, which only reaches the valve stem in very small quantities, must of course have exceptionally good lubricating properties. On the other hand, once in the combustion chamber, it should burn off completely without leaving deposits or coking. And it should still form enough oil mist in the exhaust to ensure lubrication of the exhaust valve.

The latter property has the pleasant side effect that the exhaust systems of four-stroke engines that are regularly operated with top oil are far more durable than those of comparable vehicles that have to make do without this fuel additive.

Of course, when top oil is added to the fuel, the pistons, cylinder liners and injection nozzles as well as the mechanical injection pumps of all four-stroke engines are lubricated in addition to the valves, regardless of whether they are bottom-, top- or exchange-controlled. Wear on pistons, cylinder liners, valves and injection nozzles is significantly reduced. And even rough and hard-running engines often find their way back to the velvety smooth sound of the new car with top oil.
