Organic cold paint remover
Specially developed to dissolve internal tank coatings
Tankex removes old coatings
Many tanks were sealed years ago with a wide variety of epoxy resins, polyester and polyurethane coatings. Many old coatings peel off or become porous. The reason for this is often the ethanol in today's gasoline. The ethanol penetrates these coatings and causes them to become porous and, in the worst case, even flake off.
The result: clogged filters, carburetors and lines and renewed rust in the tank!
The solution: Wagner TankEx
Wagner TankEx was specially developed to solve the ethanol-related problems of old tank sealants. TankEx penetrates one- and two-component coatings and removes them from the surface of steel, aluminum and other light metals. TankEx can also remove the Wagner tank sealant from the tank.
TankEx does not work on old original BMW coatings. TankEx cannot be used on GRP tanks either.
Good things take time
Tank paint stripping does not happen overnight. The tank coatings themselves adhere extremely well, were it not for the problem with the ethanol. It takes a while for cracks and flaking to appear.
Tank stripping also takes time and can take up to 4 weeks or longer, depending on the thickness of the coating. The tank must be swiveled 1-2 times a day to keep the old coating wet with TankEx.
The application: Caution is the mother of the china box
TankEx is an alkaline chemical that must be handled with extreme care. Please observe all safety instructions in the safety data sheet and the detailed working instructions when handling TankEx.
